Everything you need to know before getting started
UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) are parameters you add to URLs to track in Google Analytics where each visit came from. Example: you send the same product link via email and Facebook; with UTMs you can tell how many sales came from each channel.
source = WHO sent it (newsletter, facebook, google). medium = HOW (email, social, cpc). campaign = WHY (black_friday, launch_2026). This hierarchy is what you use to filter reports.
Always lowercase. GA4 is case-sensitive: `Newsletter` and `newsletter` become 2 separate rows, fragmenting your data. Our 'Lowercase' option fixes this automatically.
Avoid. Use underscores (_) or hyphens (-). Spaces become `%20` in URLs, look ugly, and some GA filters don't handle them well. Our 'Replace spaces' option converts to underscore.
Yes if you're logged in — we save to your account accessible on any device. Anonymous stays only in the current browser. Log in to avoid losing it.
Yes, it's a top best practice. Build the UTM link here, click 'Generate QR' and the QR uses the tracked URL. Print the QR on a flyer and know exactly how many people scanned and converted.
Links are built 100% in your browser. If you're NOT logged in, not even the history leaves your device. If you are logged in, only the history (to sync) is saved in your private account.
